Featured is a custom designed and built California King foundation bed in the Stickley style crafted from quarter-sawn white oak with a hand rubbed shellac and varnish finish in a Stickley Fayettville stain. Six deep drawers with hand hammered Arts & Crafts copper pulls and over-extension slides provide under-foundation storage.
Knock-down corebox construction provides the foundation bed's support and features quadralinear post on all four corners. This construction is equally suited for air and traditional mattresses due to a propitiatory edge molding that secures and inhibits mattress movement.
The foot board is comprised of a frame assembly with three panels each with two butterfly Dutchmans connecting three interior panels. This assembly is reinforced with a structural member integral to the corebox foundation support.
The headboard consists of a base and an upper cabinet. The base supports the upper cabinet and provides storage for electronics and hides power, control, and phone cables. It also features the butterfly Dutchmans.
The upper cabinet is divided into three compartments; two adjustable shelf compartments with two shelves each and one mirrored compartment. The adjustable shelves are constructed from 1/4" glass framed in oak. The back consists of a large three compartment frame with shiplap boards on the ends for the shelved compartments and structural support for the mirror in the middle compartment.
The upper cabinet is pre-drilled with cable pass-throughs such that each compartment can have access to phone, power, or control cables. The interior of the cabinet is illuminated with four interior lights consisting of three zones each separately and jointly controllable via a remote X-10 lighting control system. This system provides for instant on/off and dimming.
